The 1991 Rugby World Cup was the 2nd Rugby World Cup to be held. It was hosted by the 5 Nations rugby unions, England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and France. There were 16 teams participating, playing in 4 pools of 4 teams. The eight quarter-finalists from the 1987 RWC automatically qualified with the other 8 teams qualifying through regional qualifying tournaments.
