National Rugby Championship Results

The National Rugby Championship is the leading domestic professional rugby competition in Australia. It started in 2014 in a bid to further develop rugby in the country. 

In 2019 the same 8 teams will play in the competition.

Teams will play each other on a home and away basis. The top 4 teams will then play in semi-finals with the winners going on to the final.

Two law variations will be trialled during the competition.
  • A 50:22 kick rule which allows a team that kicks the ball from their side of half way and mages to put the ball out within the oppositions 22m area. They would then get the throw into the lineout.
  • A goal line drop out will be awarded to a defending team that holds the opposition up over the goal-line.
